England coach Stuart Barrow has named his squad for Friday’s must-win Rugby League World Cup group game against Samoa, which involves six players from Wigan Warriors.
Barrow has made a number of changes to his squad that suffered a 78-0 defeat to defending World Cup champions Australia last weekend.
NRLW star Georgia Roche returns to the starting line-up in the halves alongside Wigan’s Izzy Rowe. Roche made 11 appearances for Newcastle Knights in 2026, and will earn her 14th England cap this weekend.
Woman of Steel Jenna Foubister has been named as the 18th player for Friday’s clash, with the Wigan star having featured in the halves against the Jillaroos last weekend.
Wigan duo Georgia Wilson and Mary Coleman have also been added to Friday’s starting line-up, while Lucie Sams retains her place on the bench following her international debut last weekend.
Warriors pair Anna Davies and Meg Williams have retained their starting roles on the wing and at loose forward respectively.
England captain Jodie Cunningham extended her record as the most-capped women’s international player last weekend, and has been declared fit to play after undergoing minor ear surgery on Saturday night.
However, England will be without Wigan powerhouse Eva Hunter, who has been ruled out of England’s final group game with an ankle injury sustained against the Jillaroos.
There is a familiar name in the Samoan line-up too - Annetta Nuuausala - sister of former Wigan prop Frank-Paul Nuuausala, who helped the Warriors win a Super League title in 2026 and a World Club Challenge title the following year.
