‘Even more’, – Aston Villa boss on his ambition and future following the rumor
Unai Emery - New Aston Villa manager.

Aston Villa boss has underlined his ambition and future with his team despite another rumor on him being linked to a move recently.

Aston Villa has made incredible progress since Unai Emery is at the helm of the team in November 2022. They have always qualified to the continental competitions since then, including two Champions League. Villa also managed to reach the semifinal in UEFA Conference League 2024, quarterfinals to the eventual champion PSG in 2025 and won Europa League 2026, which ended their 30-year title drought.

However, achieving all those does not mean that he has been running out of steam and then seeking for a new challenge elsewhere. In fact, the Spaniard remains in demand to stay consistent, as reported in Birmingham world after one of his press conferences.

“The future is to keep this consistency, playing in Europe for me is very special. I have played 17 years in a row playing in Europe when I’ve coached teams.

“This makes me so proud and makes me want to challenge even more. Then to play in the Premier League, this is the most difficult in the world.”

What’s next, Emery?

After four years in charge of The Lions, the former Sevilla and Villarreal boss is still determined to lead Villa at the top level consistently. It has not been easy, for sure as they themselves slipped to Europa League last season.

“Going forward, improving, getting better – and Champions League is our priority, but to play there every season is very difficult.

“We have got top four twice – and the players must be on the same page to work for the objectives.”

Finishing top four in the Premier League is tough. The non-elite sides like Aston Villa and Newcastle have to struggle to secure the necessary berth while still having a campaign in other competitions. They need a bigger squad, rotation as well as the same quality for every starting XI. That is definitely not easy.

Such is what Emery attempts to reach here. The consistency to stay top is incredibly difficult. He could only hope to do so till his last days in B6, which is not in the foreseeable future, despite the rumor being linked to Manchester United, again.

The expected impact

Emery also underlined how beneficial competing in the continent is for the club. It somehow opens new opportunities for the West Midlands to go globally.

“To play in Europe is something that can give you prestige as a club – you can transmit a lot of things by playing in other countries.”

The Clarets and Blue have gained more recognition in the global market. Such create credibility and lure more sponsors for collaboration and partnership as well. They could sign young talents from around the world without having to explain or promote Villa’s profile. Such absolutely cut the middlemen in the process or the stage of being pounced by other teams first.

In the end, qualifying for the Champions League is just a regular target. It is the necessary demand to stay at the top level.
