IFK Gothenburg midfielder Oliver Mansson says he would find it “hard to choose” between Chelsea and Arsenal.
TEAMtalk reported at the weekend that the two London rivals have been impressed with the 17-year-old’s performances.
Asked whether he knew about the interest, Swedish newspaper Expressen, Mansson replied:
“No, I had no idea. I saw it on social media like everyone else. So… no, I didn’t know that.”
Mansson was then asked whether he actually had a preference about which team he would like to join, and he said:
“Haha, it’s hard to choose.”
When pushed further on whether he followed any clubs in the Premier League, Mansson revealed that his favourite team growing up were Spanish:
“No, I don’t actually have one. I haven’t. It’s been Barca for me, but… well, it’s always fun to have interest if there’s something. That’s how it is.”
The teenager came through the academy at Gothenburg, and he made his senior debut against Djurgarden during a 6-0 defeat back in May.
Since then, Mansson has gone on to make 17 appearances in all competitions, having provided 2 assists (against Mjallby in September and Vasteras SK earlier this month).
At international level, the teenager has been capped by Sweden Under 18s, having captained them in his first appearance against Uruguay at the beginning of October.
Due to UK visa rules, Premier League sides would have to wait until Mansson turns 18 in mid-August 2027 to finalise a transfer.
A pre-agreement before a switch next summer is possible. At the moment, though, it isn’t believed that Chelsea are pushing hard to secure his signature.
Other English teams (in addition to Arsenal) are said to be scouting Mansson, including Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland.
