A second day cut short by rain in Gqeberha still had time for more Scott Boland wickets, as South Africa’s captain Temba Bavuma dug in against Australia.
The Proteas were 97-5 at the close of the second day of the second Test, which was again limited by rain, as Boland took two more wickets and Bavuma provided the main resistance.
The hosts resumed on 20-2 and added 77 runs in the 30.4 overs bowled. Debutant Marques Ackerman went early, adding one to his overnight five before Alex Carey caught him off Boland to make it 25-3. Matthew Breetzke followed for four, caught by Carey off Mitchell Starc, and South Africa were 40-4.
