Pakistan will face England in the second match of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 20. The Men in Green will look to build on their winning start, while England will aim to begin their campaign with a victory.
Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team opened the tournament with a 37-run win over Sri Lanka at the same venue. Pakistan recovered from early wickets to post 305 runs and then bowled Sri Lanka out for 268.
England, led by Harry Brook, will enter the tri-series after winning their recent home ODI series against Sri Lanka 2-1. They have several all-rounders who can contribute with both bat and ball. England will look to use that depth to challenge Pakistan on their home ground.
England have also enjoyed success in their ODI rivalry with Pakistan, winning 57 of their 92 meetings. They have won four of the teams’ last five encounters. However, Pakistan’s opening victory will boost their confidence ahead of this contest.
Pakistan will enter the match after beating Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the tournament opener. They will look to make a stronger start with the bat against England.
Openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub failed to make significant contributions in the Powerplay, but Babar Azam and debutant Saad Baig helped steady the innings. Babar scored 45 off 57 balls, while Baig added 39 runs to give Pakistan a platform for a strong finish.
Salman Ali Agha, who scored 107 off 90 balls, helped Pakistan recover from regular wickets and finish with 305 runs. Agha has also scored 421 runs in his last 10 innings at an average of 52.63.
Pakistan’s bowlers backed up the batting effort with a disciplined performance. Shaheen Afridi claimed 3/55, while Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Faheem Ashraf took two wickets each.
Haris Rauf will be another important player for Pakistan, particularly during the middle and final overs. He has taken 21 wickets in his last nine matches at an economy rate of 5.31.
England have secured four wins in their last four matches. Joe Root remains a key figure in the batting order, having scored 575 runs in his last 10 matches at an average of 95.83.
Ben Duckett is another important batter at the top of the order. He has scored 399 runs across his previous 10 innings and can give England quick starts. His performance in the Powerplay could help set the tone for the visitors.
With the ball, Sam Curran has taken 10 wickets in his last seven appearances, while veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid brings extensive experience with 243 career ODI wickets. Liam Dawson adds another spin option for the middle overs. Gus Atkinson can provide extra pace and bounce against Pakistan’s top order.
Cricket fans can watch the PAK vs ENG second ODI live on PTV Sports and Ten Sports on television, while Tapmad, Tamasha, and Myco will provide live streaming. In India, no official television broadcast or digital streaming coverage has been confirmed for this tri-series fixture.
The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium usually offers a good batting surface for ODI cricket. The pitch provides consistent bounce and good pace, allowing batters to play their shots freely, especially during the powerplay.
Fast bowlers can find some assistance by hitting the deck hard and using the bounce. Spinners may also help control the scoring rate during the middle overs.
Chasing has often worked well at Rawalpindi, with teams bowling first winning 18 of the 32 recorded ODIs at the venue. The captain winning the toss may prefer to bowl first and assess the target before starting the chase.

The weather forecast for Rawalpindi suggests sunny skies and clear conditions on Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to reach 29°C during the afternoon before dropping to around 17°C in the evening.
Rain is not expected to interrupt play. Evening dew could also become a factor during the second innings, potentially giving the team batting second an advantage and making it harder for the bowling side to defend its total.
Pakistan head into the second match with no reported injury concerns after their opening victory. The team management is likely to retain the winning combination and field an unchanged playing XI against England.
England have named a 16-man squad led by Harry Brook but will miss two senior players. Jos Buttler is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI of England’s recent home series against Sri Lanka. Fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been rested for the entire tri-series.
Pakistan Predicted Playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Saad Baig, Salman Agha, Hasan Nawaz, Arafat Minhas, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi (c), Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf.

Joe Root vs Shaheen Afridi:
Joe Root will be a key player for England after scoring consistently in recent matches. Shaheen Afridi will look to trouble Root with his left-arm swing, particularly with the new ball.
Salman Agha vs Adil Rashid:
Salman Agha will look to use his footwork against spin, while Adil Rashid will aim to disrupt his rhythm with variations in flight and spin during the middle overs.
Babar Azam vs Sam Curran:
Babar Azam provides stability to Pakistan’s innings. Sam Curran’s left-arm angle and ability to move the ball could test Babar early in his innings.
