Woking goalkeeper Vicente Reyes was delighted after making his debut for the club in their penalty shootout win against Leicester City’s under-21s in the National League Cup.
The Cards won 4-3 on penalties at the Laithwaite Community Stadium after conceding a late equaliser to draw 2-2 against the young Foxes.
Reyes saved a penalty in the shootout, and admitted he backed himself to be the hero.
“I'm really happy to get in the squad and play,” said Reyes.
“I've been here for a week, so I'm getting used to all the lads, but they've been treating me well.
“It was a tough start. I thought we had the edge at the end, but we conceded a poor goal. We take two points out of it, so can't be too mad about it.
“I've been part of two penalty shootouts this season and won both. I do back myself, like every goalie should in those moments.”
Reyes joined the Cards on loan from Championship outfit Norwich City until January after previous loan spells with Braintree Town, Cambridge United, Forest Green Rovers and Peterborough United, and the 22-year-old goalkeeper is looking forward to the rest of his time at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.
“I've been at Norwich for three seasons and have been all over the place with loans,” said Reyes.
“It's important for a young goalie to get his games in, and here's a good place to be and to play. I'm eager to get better and am always looking forward.
“I've been quite fortunate to play at a high level for a goalie at this age, and I've been a part of many moments and many games.
“The best thing I can do is take the experience I've learned so far in my career and use them in these games and different moments to help out the lads that are around me.”
