It took until right before the end of the third quarter, but the Washington Commanders finally got their first touchdown of the game against the San Francisco 49ers on a one-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels to Stefon Diggs, making it 23-10 in the fourth quarter.

After the touchdown, Washington forced a three-and-out to make the 49ers punt the ball right back to the Commanders, giving them a chance to make this a one-possession game. Washington took advantage with a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that was kept alive by an illegal contact penalty on the 49ers on third down. Daniels found running back Rachaad White for his second touchdown pass of the game, making the score 23-17.

San Francisco had dominated the game for the first two and a half quarters, so this game never should have gotten to this point. On the other side, the Commanders never gave up and have turned this into a game after it looked like it was going to be a blowout. The 49ers' missed extra point is also looming large, allowing this to be a six-point game instead of a seven-point game.
