Dave Portnoy and the Ohio State rivalry has once again resumed just a few weeks after the Barstool media owner was removed from Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff Pregame show.

Portnoy had put out a long statement in which he stated that: “Ohio State has relentlessly complained to Fox.” While Portnoy has not appeared on Fox since, he still has his own platform and can speak about CFB using that as well.

Discussing Ohio State’s upcoming game against the Indiana Hoosiers, Portnoy said: “”Cignetti is clearly a superstar coach and it doesn’t matter where he went. Ryan Day would be unsuccessful at any program other than Ohio State. He was given a cupboard full of superstars. He could never build a program. He could never do what Cignetti did”

Naturally, the Buckeyes fans were not going to be quiet listening to criticism about their championship-winning coach and fired back at Portnoy.

Dave Portnoy labels Ohio State fans as ‘delusional and insane’

Portnoy has spoken multiple times about Ohio State, and on all the occasions, there has not been a lot of appreciation for the program. This probably does stem from his love for Michigan, but the back-and-forth between him and Ohio State has been going on for a while now.

After his comments about Day, Portnoy was criticised by Buckeyes fans but this time he responded back with some choice words for them.

“I love how delusional and insane and sensitive and some would say stupid Ohio Stare fans are. Im one of the longest running college football analysts in the country. Literally. They are mad I talked about Ohio State vs Indiana this week (biggest game of the weekend) and said Indiana has a coaching advantage which they clearly do with Cignetti > Day. They act like I am biased against them when I give good, clean fair takes. I swear Ohio State has a Dave Portnoy fetish. They can’t stay out of mentions and they can’t stop obsessing over me. Fetish city,” Portnoy wrote on X.

Cignetti and Day both have one CFP championship to their name, but to Portnoy’s point, in the past, Ohio State has a loaded roster with talent everywhere on the floor. Jeremiah Smith and Darian Mensah are two Heisman contenders; both are Buckeyes players. However, that does not take away the success he has had with the program.

Cignetti has also had a stellar journey in CFB. He worked under Nick Saban at Alabama before starting his own HC stint. Prior to his arrival, Indiana had never won a national championship but he helped them achieve that, going unbeaten the entire season in the process.

Indiana has an unbeaten record so far this season and Ohio State have lost just once. This game will definitely have a lot riding on it, and the winners here will definitely make a statement as one of the best teams in all of CFB.
