Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo says it was "important" for his side to get their first win of the Premier League season at Anfield under their belts.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside after the win over Brighton, the Netherlands international said: "For the club that we are, it's not good that it took so long to get the home win. Very happy with today. Clean sheet, good goals, I think a good game against a very good opponent.

"To get the win was very important."
