It's claimed that Liverpool is leading the race to secure the signature of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
The England international enjoyed a standout breakthrough campaign with the Cherries last season, attracting considerable attention from the Premier League's elite clubs. Chelsea made an attempt to acquire his services over the summer, but Bournemouth was resolute in its determination to retain the 23-year-old.
Despite this, a January move has been widely mooted, with Liverpool emerging as a frontrunner for his signature. Paris Saint-Germain has also been named among the clubs vying for the star, particularly following the serious injury to talisman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
According to Gianluca DiMarzio, Liverpool is "one of the most likely destinations" for the England international, along with Arsenal and AC Milan.
The French team is also understood to be keen admirers of Scott as it chases a third successive Champions League title. The midfielder has risen to prominence remarkably swiftly since his arrival from Bristol City during the summer of 2023.
Having already accumulated two senior England caps, Scott delivered a particularly eye-catching display during the emphatic 7-0 away victory against Croatia, where he shone alongside Elliot Anderson and Jude Bellingham in the center of the park.
He is presently recovering from a hamstring problem sustained while representing the Three Lions on international duty.
Scott has been absent from Premier League action since the Reds' visit to the Vitality Stadium, where they secured a 1-0 away triumph.
Bournemouth remains resolute in its efforts to tie him down to fresh terms and fend off interest from Premier League and European giants. The Cherries turned down an offer from Chelsea during the summer window, alongside other approaches from rival clubs.
It's believed that Bournemouth would entertain a January departure if the club is satisfied with its chances of staying up, though an offer approaching £100 million ($133 million) might prove necessary.
Bournemouth owner Bill Foley recently outlined the club's stance regarding his potential departure.
He told talkSPORT: "At this point, we're convinced we're the right place for Alex to be and to stay, and we'll keep on addressing the contract issues with Alex as we move through this year.
"We'd love to have Alex stay here and sign a new contract and be part of this team for the long haul. We haven't given up, but sometimes players get stars in their eyes, and they think that Chelsea or Manchester City is the right place to go.
"We believe, if we keep on buying infrastructure and a common thread of leadership across the team then we will start keeping more and more players. People will be surprised about that, and they'll be able to earn substantial wages here."
