Caldy Cricket Club has launched a fundraiser for Rohan Sanjaya, who suffered the life-changing injury while back home in Sri Lanka.

He took more than 80 wickets and scored over 800 runs during his time with the club and was praised for being a "fantastic person" and a "pleasure" to be on the team with.

Club captain Adam Brown is raising money to help Rohan access a suitable prosthetic and support him and his family as they adjust to what has happened.

Launching the appeal on GoFundMe, Adam said: "We at Caldy Cricket Club are coming together to support our former teammate and friend, Rohan, and his family following a life-changing accident.

"While back home in Sri Lanka, Rohan was involved in a motorcycle accident which tragically resulted in the loss of his leg.

"This accident has had a devastating impact on Rohan's life. Cricket is not only the game he loves, but also his profession and livelihood.

"He and his family now face significant challenges as they adjust to this unexpected change in circumstances."

Money raised through the GoFundMe appeal will go towards securing a suitable prosthetic for Rohan as well as providing financial support for him and his family.

Adam added: "We want to do everything we can to support Rohan and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

"The money raised will go towards helping Rohan access the most suitable prosthetic possible, as well as providing financial support for him and his family as they navigate the challenges ahead."

The club is now appealing to cricketers and the wider public to get behind the fundraiser.

Adam said: "Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference, and if you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean a great deal to us."

Caldy Cricket Club is also planning a series of fundraising challenges and events over the coming months to support Rohan and his family.

Adam added: "Thank you to everyone who donates, shares this story or helps us spread the word."
