The position mirrors his side’s 1-1 home draw with Manchester United.
Both the deal and the quest for victory are nearly there – but not quite.
In post-match interviews Farke would not be drawn into the details of his contract discussions with the club but believes the Whites could have taken all three points against an expensively assembled Old Trafford outfit.
His opposite number Michael Carrick went into the contest under pressure after just one win in his opening six Premier League matches and paid Leeds the compliment of matching the Whites’ formation.
Although the Red Devils took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo they could not hold onto it against a Leeds side which churned out another consistent team display.
Leeds may not have the individual stars like Manchester United but they currently are a strong solid unit.
The point took Leeds to seventh place but Farke was convinced his men had enough to beat Manchester United at LS11 for the first time since 2002.
“I think we were the better side today, the dominant side,” he said.
“I think we lacked a little bit in our decision making in the first half so we could have done a bit better and can play it and around the box with a bit more clarity.
“With a bit more quality in our final third I think we could have even won it but that’s more less the only thing I can criticise.”
The match between the bitter Roses rivals kicked off in a highly-charged atmosphere which produced bookings for Manchester skipper Bruno Fernandes and Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson.
It wasn’t until the 25th minute before the first effort on target arrived, visiting keeper Senne Lammens pawing away a downward header from Nico Elvedi.
Carrick’s side should have taken the lead soon afterwards when Mbeumo sent a free header wide but the Cameroon star made amends by poking home Youri Tielemans’ excellent low pass from the right.
Leeds had got into similar positions at the other end but could not match the quality of the final ball produced by Tielemans.
The Whites were surprisingly hogging possession and their attacking efforts finally paid dividends five minutes into the second half.
Anton Stach curled in Leeds’ first corner, Tarik Muharemovic won the initial header which fell to the alert Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who took a touch off his chest and swept in the equaliser for his fifth goal of the season.
Leeds looked more likely to net a winner but when the ball fell to Ao Tanaka, Noah Okafor and Anton Stach on the edge of the box their wild shooting saw the ball sail over the bar.
Stach came close to netting a winner in additional time but his tame goal-bound shot from close range was blocked by Noussair Mazraoui and into the arms of Lammens.
