Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has thrown his support behind Harry Kane in the race for the Ballon d’Or, despite acknowledging that Michael Olise also deserves recognition for his outstanding performances.
Speaking about the two Bayern stars, Hainer made his preference clear, backing the England international to claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
“Both Michael and Harry deserve it. But I would give it to Harry Kane. Michael Olise has many more years ahead of him to win the Ballon d’Or,” Herbert told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Hainer’s comments highlight just how highly Kane is regarded within Bayern, with the club president believing the striker’s accomplishments warrant ultimate individual recognition. Kane has continued to deliver elite-level performances since arriving in Munich, establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in world football and a central figure in Bayern’s pursuit of silverware.
Olise, meanwhile, has emerged as another superstar for the Bavarian giants. His creativity, technical ability, and eye for goal have made him an indispensable attacking weapon, and his performances have strengthened his case for consideration among the world’s best players.
The distinction Hainer makes is an interesting one. While both players have legitimate claims, the Bayern president appears to believe that Kane’s current body of work makes him the more deserving candidate, while Olise has plenty of time to make his own Ballon d’Or push in the coming years.
For Bayern Munich fans, having two players worthy of consideration is hardly a bad problem to have. The question now is whether Kane can turn that support into football’s most coveted individual prize.
