Worcestershire cricketers head to Australia and South Africa

First-team regulars and emerging talent will spend the off-season playing club cricket in Australia, South Africa, and Pakistan as part of the club’s long-term development strategy.

Alan Richardson, head coach at Worcestershire, said: "For all of the players heading overseas it is a fantastic opportunity to enhance, broaden and develop their games.

"For some of the younger members of the group, it is about volume of cricket and we feel they will benefit from continued and sustained competitive cricket, whereas for some of the more experienced guys, it is about aligning some cricket with time around family which is really important.

"We will be monitoring the lads closely during their time away and wish them all the very best whilst we continue to work with the players who are remaining in Worcestershire."

Brett D’Oliveira and Gareth Roderick will both play for Green Point Cricket Club in South Africa.

D’Oliveira will play from mid-October to the end of November before returning to training in the new year, while Roderick will remain at the club until March 2027.

Ben Gibbon is returning to Adelaide to represent Sturt Cricket Club after a successful stint in Australia last winter.

Adam Finch will also head to Australia in January to play for Unley Cricket Club in Adelaide, following his recent selection for the England Lions squad.

Sam Greer, who signed permanently with Worcestershire at the end of last season, is already back home in Fremantle, Perth, where he has featured in two games and will continue playing through the season with managed workloads.

Henry Cullen will return to Woodville Cricket Club in Australia, where he will play from November to February.

Dan Lategan will play for Durbanville CC in the Western Province Division in South Africa, though his return date to Worcestershire has not yet been confirmed.

Kashif Ali, meanwhile, will spend time in Pakistan, representing Lahore during the winter period.

Other senior players are still finalising overseas opportunities, with updates expected in due course.
