Traditional clubs such as Kendal Lawn Tennis Club, Silloth-on-Solway Lawn Tennis Club, Eden Lawn Tennis Club in Carlisle and Keswick and Braithwaite Lawn Tennis Club helped foster women’s participation in the sport.
