Puckett, a sophomore who walked on to the team last year, made his first career start in MSU's last game, a 31-0 loss at LSU.
Here's what to know about Puckett.
Puckett was an unranked recruit from Jackson Prep before joining the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State has listed Puckett as Taylor's co-backup this season with Appalachian State transfer AJ Swann, but Puckett is the backup QB to play this season.

According to Mississippi State, the nickname comes from when his parents used to call him "billy goat" because of his extraordinary appetite as a kid. He was on a little league baseball team once with three other players named Parker so the coaches and teammates called him Billy and it stuck since then.
Puckett is from Madison and played at Jackson Prep.
