Angel Reese turned down a marriage proposal as she chased a ring in the WNBA Finals.
On Saturday, her Atlanta Dream fell 67-62 to the Golden State Valkyries in Game 4 of the 2026 WNBA Finals. The 5-point loss means the Valkyries have tied up the series, with Reese struggling offensively.
The third-year forward and reigning Defensive Player of the Year shot just 2-of-12 from the floor and committed 6 turnovers on a frustrating night. But Valkyries star Kiah Stokes snagged 16 rebounds and added three of her own blocks in a stout defensive showing that saw Golden State win.
It means the WNBA Finals will go at least six games, setting up an exciting series for fans to take in. However, one fan was left heartbroken as his proposal was turned down by Reese, who was slammed for "giving up" in a close Game 1 loss.
In Game 3, Reese produced a sensational performance as the Dream clinched a 97-71 win over the Valkyries to lead the WNBA Finals. There was a passionate atmosphere inside State Farm Arena, and one fan was looking for love as TikTok creator @tikibeen1 posted a clip of them watching the game with a sign that read: 'Angel will you marry me?'
Reese didn’t see the sign initially, but the viral clip was later brought to her attention, so she replied in the comments. She wrote: “Not in this lifetime but i have some fine friendsssss.”
Reese is currently dating Wendell Carter Jr., who plays for the Orlando Magic in the NBA. He discussed his time supporting Reese during his offseason in a recent podcast with Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson, saying: “It's been a great summer. A lot of hard work, a lot of relaxation, and a lot of support for my girl. It's been good, man.”
Game 4 was incredibly physical, with a lot of contact on both sides. Atlanta attempted 31 free throws to Golden State’s 13, but Reese visibly vented frustration about the plays that were not called as she tried to finish around the basket.
After the game, the 24-year-old did not blame the officiating. “I think it was me. I think I rushed a lot on my shots and I didn’t take my time and finish around the basket like I’ve been doing the last three games,” Reese said.
“It happens, and I’m just looking forward to the next game.”
Reese said the Dream needs to be sharper from the start. “We applied a lot of pressure, but we can’t wait until the second half to do it,” she added.
Reese’s Dream takes on the Valkyries in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals at Chase Center on Monday, Oct. 26.
