Bodø is a tough place to go, as shown by how many big teams have struggled on their travels to the north of Norway. Still, it was Dortmund’s drab, lifeless performance (at least in the first hour) which was most disappointing. BVB struggled to create anything at all in the first half, and they were caught cold after the break, as Fredrik Sjøvold gave Bodø/Glimt a lead that Dortmund would not be able to catch.

Niko Kovač’s subs on the hour made a big difference, but it was too little too late. Dortmund needed to show the same thrust they showed in the final half hour for the full 90 minutes. It’s a disappointing result, but performance was probably more disappointing. Hopefully BVB set things right against Union Berlin over the weekend.

Here are your nominations for Man of the Match in Dortmund’s 1-0 loss to Bodø/Glimt:

Waldemar Anton

I actually thought Anton had a really good game. He was solid defensively and was key in what little offense Dortmund created before the hour. He was one of few starters who came away from this game with their head held high.

Felix Nmecha

Nmecha came on at the hour mark, along with Serhou Guirassy, Ethan Nwaneri, and Julian Ryerson. All four were a significant upgrade, and Dortmund looked much improved in the final half hour. Nmecha gave the offense a lot more impetus, and probably deserved some reward for his efforts.

Julian Ryerson

Much like Nmecha, Ryerson’s involvement made BVB look much more dangerous. He provided much more threat out wide than Daniel Svensson offered in the first hour.

Jobe Bellingham

Jobe was one of few BVB players trying to make something happen in the first hour, and he linked up well with the subs when they brought some energy to Dortmund’s offense.
