Vincent Kompany commented on a 3-3 draw between Bayern Munich and Viking.
The Bavarians drew 2-2 with Augsburg in the Bundesliga on the weekend, sitting two points off table toppers Borussia Dortmund, and they wanted to make amends in midweek in Norway.
However, another slow start saw the hosts take a two-goal advantage in the first half. A Harry Kane brace brought Die Roten level, then Luis Díaz delivered the go-ahead goal.
A substandard evening would then see Michael Olise pick up successive yellow cards in a sequence of play, ruling him out of the visit of Arsenal next week, and Viking earned a memorable point with a 90th-minute leveller.
“It’s our own fault today. We were very dominant, like we were at the weekend. There are certainly things where you can say the substance of our performance isn’t that bad, but we’re just making lapses in concentration and aren’t smart enough in these moments.
“Against Augsburg we conceded after eight seconds, today after one and a half minutes. In that situation, we didn’t need to play it out from the corner, but could’ve looked for the longer option.
“We knew that too. There was a bit of overconfidence there. At the moment, it feels like every chance for the opponents leads to a goal.
“That’s no excuse, though, because we’re causing these situations ourselves. The sending-off was obviously stupid, and we’ve spoken about it quite clearly. However, it’s important to me that I don’t see a lack of energy in the team. The players are working hard, mentally they’re always at it too.
“Nevertheless, things like this shouldn’t happen. It makes it difficult to win matches, even when you’re clearly superior and don’t play that badly over the whole game. But because of these isolated situations, which we’re bringing about ourselves, it obviously turns out differently.”
