Coventry City boss Frank Lampard's future could be at the centre of speculation once again as Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage battles the sack at Selhurst Park. Lampard was sounded out by Palace at the end of last season as they searched for Oliver Glasner's successor.
The former Chelsea midfielder, who has guided Coventry to two wins in their opening six matches following their Championship title, signed a new deal at the Coventry Building Society Arena over the summer. Lampard committed his future at the club until 2029, having had less than a year left on his contract when the Eagles last enquired.
The 48-year-old was linked with Fulham in addition to Palace, with the Cottagers also struggling in the Premier League this term. But the Eagles could be the first team in the Premier League to pull the trigger, with Sage even admitting his uncertainty following his team's 5-0 thrashing by Brighton.

Asked if he would keep his job, the Frenchman said: "I don’t know. I just want to apologise to the fans because it’s not normal to show this face for this club against this other club and we are not at the level we expected.
"I am really sorry for that because I know how important it is for them. We didn’t show that today. It was really important for us too. We didn’t understand in which context this game was played.
"I will always give my best. When we lose, I’m really frustrated, but I always take the lesson and try to change things. But it’s the same when I win because I know we can improve.
"I don’t want to accept the level of the moment if we can do better. Today the work is really important to do and I will do it. It’s my job and I like to change this kind of thing."
Mail Online reports that Crystal Palace chiefs have concerns over Sage's tactics in defence, with the south London side having conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season. The 47-year-old is reported to have been on the verge of getting sacked before recording a goalless draw against Leeds.
Sage alleviated the pressure even further with a win against Nottingham Forest, but defeat to Brighton has brought his standing crashing back down to earth. It is claimed the manager has a strained relationship with the Eagles' hierarchy.
Lampard is already one of the early favourites with the bookies despite his recent contract extension, with the Palace board known admirers of him. It's unclear if Palace will make a move for him again if Sage is sacked, though an exit looks entirely unlikely.
Coventry have won consecutive matches against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, and will hope to extend that run against Tottenham on Monday evening. The Lilywhites are home to another manager who could be under threat, with Roberto De Zerbi's side at the bottom of the Premier League.
