On-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was involved in a car accident after Trabzonspor's Conference League win over Hearts. He was taken to hospital after he was rear-ended by a vehicle, but was released after checks came back clear.
Offering an update, club president Ertugrul Dogan told local media: “Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Images from the scene appear to show debris from cars with the impact of another vehicle into Onana's causing him to make contact with the car in front, as per reports.
Onana is in the midst of his second spell with the Turkish club, who have made a bright start to the season in the league and Europe. The 2-0 victory over Hearts followed a 4-2 triumph over Finnish side KuPs with Onana starting all of their games so far.
Thursday night was his fourth clean sheet in five games which has seen the Cameron international become a fan favourite for Trabzonspor.
They have beaten domestic heavyweights Besiktas and Galatasaray by an aggregate score of 6-0 in recent weeks with marquee summer signing Mohamed Salah scoring in both, which included a hat-trick against the latter.
Trabzonspor return to league action against Rizespor next Monday which gives Onana some time to rest and recover if he is deemed able to return.
Onana joined Man United in the summer of 2023 for £43.8million from Inter Milan but his spell at Old Trafford was not a good one and he frozen out of the squad just two years later.
The 30-year-old subsequently joined Trabzonspor after the arrival of Senne Lammens and made 42 appearances in between the sticks with just six clean sheets kept.
Onana is already just one away from that tally with his side losing just twice since the campaign officially kicked off, not including Europa League play-off games where they were eliminated by Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.
