Cowboys have ideal chance to end streak of allowing 20 or more points

It’s been nearly a year since the Cowboys held an opponent under 20 points. The best chance to end that streak comes later today.

At 1:00 p.m. ET, the Cowboys visit the Colts. And the Colts have scored a total of 17 points since waving the white flag with the same-day trades of guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers.

Of course, they’ve played a couple of very good defenses, at Minnesota and at Jacksonville. Still, with the organization creating a clear impression that they’ve embarked on a rebuilding plan during the 2026 season — and with trade talk hovering as to running back Jonathan Taylor, quarterback Daniel Jones, and receiver Josh Downs — the Cowboys are catching the Colts at an ideal time for Dallas.

For now, the Cowboys have allowed 20 or more points for 15 straight games. It’s the longest active streak in the league, and the longest streak in franchise history.

The Cowboys last held an opponent under 20 points on November 17, 2025, in a Monday night 33-16 win over the Raiders. Since then, the Cowboys have allowed 21, 28, 44, 34, 34, 23, 34, 28, 20, 34, 30, 24, 23, 21, and 33 points. That works out to an average of 28.7 points allowed per game.

Today’s the day the run could end. If it doesn’t, who knows when it will?
