WWE’s plans for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia could depend on what happens at a major boxing event this Saturday. Despite recent security concerns in the region, the company is reportedly proceeding with its upcoming PLE as planned.

How smoothly the boxing event goes could help WWE and its parent company, TKO Group Holdings, understand the security and travel challenges involved in holding a major event in Riyadh.

How Saturday’s Canelo Alvarez fight could affect WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia unless something serious happens before November 3. The October 31 boxing event headlined by Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli could play an important role in the company’s decision.

“Unless something catastrophic happens between now and next Tuesday, they’re going,” Meltzer said.

He pointed to Saturday’s boxing event in Riyadh as an important sign of how things are going in the region. Most of the fighters have reportedly traveled to Saudi Arabia, although some have been unwilling to make the trip.

“There’s a boxing match on Saturday with Canelo Alvarez. One of the boxers, Lindolfo Delgado, he pulled out. He said he’s not going, but everybody else went. Meltzer also described how the rest of the fighters got to Riyadh,” Meltzer said.

Meltzer also discussed how some members of the boxing event changed their travel plans because of security concerns. He added that no incidents had come to light at the time of his comments.

“A lot of them flew into Bahrain airport to avoid the Riyadh airport, and then driven five hours to get to Riyadh. There’s been no incidents today. Everyone’s saying it’s great, the security is great, that everything is fine,” Meltzer said

However, the lack of reported incidents does not guarantee that the situation will remain the same. Saturday’s boxing event could give WWE a clearer picture of whether a major sporting event can take place safely under the current situation.

WWE also has to consider the safety of its wrestlers, staff, production crews, and other personnel traveling to Saudi Arabia.

“If something bad happens to the boxing show, yeah, they probably won’t go. But if nothing happens, they’re going,” Meltzer added.

WWE’s Crown Jewel 2026 is scheduled for November 7 at Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD. That is just four days after the November 3 cutoff mentioned by Meltzer.
