One of the biggest games this college football Saturday is now in the hands of a freshman backup quarterback.
Indiana welcomed Ohio State to Bloomington on Saturday, in a meeting of two teams ranked inside the top five. But while the visiting Buckeyes built a 19-15 lead, they were soon playing without starting quarterback Julian Sayin, who went to the locker room after an apparent upper-body injury.
Sayin went to the locker room after this hit on a passing attempt in the fourth quarter:
As Sayin left the field and headed to the locker room, freshman backup quarterback Luke Fahey came into the game.
Sayin then returned to the Ohio State sideline with his right — throwing — arm in a sling:
With Sayin watching, the Ohio State offense was forced to punt the ball to Indiana late in the game, giving Josh Hoover and the Hoosiers a chance to march down the field and take the lead in this Big Ten battle.
Fahey is 0-for-2 on two passing attempts in his limited action since taking over for Sayin.
