Moises Caicedo has practically left Pedro Neto speechless with his performance in Chelsea’s win away at Everton.
Neto was the star of the show after scoring two goals against David Moyes’ side. That 2-0 victory has now seen Chelsea climb to fourth in the Premier League table.
As well as Neto, though, Caicedo also had a good game in the middle of the park and helped Chelsea keep their first clean sheet in the Premier League this season. It is actually their first since January, showing how much the Blues were struggling defensively.
However, they have certainly improved since Caicedo’s return to the team. And the Ecuadorian’s impact has not gone unnoticed.
After the game, Caicedo posted a picture of him leading out the team on Instagram, with the 24-year-old captaining Chelsea in Reece James’ absence. In response, Neto replied: “no words”.

Caicedo can often leave his Chelsea teammates and supporters speechless with the way he wins the ball back. The Ecuador international may be the best ball-winning midfielder in the Premier League.
Interestingly, Caicedo did not make as many defensive contributions as he normally does in Chelsea’s win over Everton. In fact, he did not win a single tackle at all and only made two defensive actions in total, according to Sofascore.
Yet Caicedo does not even have to make tackles to be effective. The way he covers spaces and sits in front of the backline can be enough to slow down and stop attacks. He can force the opposition to play a pass that does not really take them anywhere in their offensive build-up.
All in all, Chelsea’s midfield looks so much better with Caicedo and Jordan Henderson now there. There has been more control and protection, and hopefully things remain that way.
Caicedo could continue as captain, with James ruled out for three months. But Henderson is also capable of wearing the armband with his leadership skills and experience as a skipper at Liverpool.
