The referee appointments have been confirmed for week three of the Rugby League World Cup, with all three English referees taking the whistle this weekend.
Chris Kendall, Liam Moore and Tara Jones have all been handed on-field official roles across the final round of the group stages.
Kendall will take charge of England, but will do so in the women’s format as Stuart Barrow’s side look to claim a semi-final spot. To do so, they must beat opponents Samoa, who are also vying for a place in the final four and are favourites to win the match.
Moore, who refereed the 2026 Super League Grand Final, will take charge of Lebanon v France. That game is essentially a dead rubber, with both nations already eliminated from the tournament, however pride and the right to say they avoided bottom of the table are still up for grabs.
Jones has been handed Fiji v France in the women’s game. The French have scored just one try across the tournament, and have conceded 150 points in defeats to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
England Men have also learned the referee for their game against Papua New Guinea. Gerard Sutton will oversee that one – the 48-year-old also took charge of England’s first game against Tonga, whilst also officiating Australia’s nervy 36-22 win over Fiji.
