After dropping three straight games to open the 2026-27 campaign, the Golden State Warriors have secured their long-awaited first win of the season on Monday evening in Denver.
Despite a quiet first half from Steph Curry, the Warriors found themselves leading the Denver Nuggets by four points. Curry uncharacteristically attempted just one shot, a made 3-pointer in 14 minutes of action in the first half. Yet, the second half was a different story.
Curry caught fire as the Warriors ran away from the Nuggets in the second half. In the third and fourth quarter, Curry tallied 21 points on 7-of-7 shooting with a pair of made 3-pointers. Curry finished the game with 24 points on a perfect 8-o-8 shooting from the field.
While it was Curry who helped push the Warriors over the finish line in the second half, it was Yaxel Lendeborg at the center of Golden State's first win of the new season. The rookie continued his impressive start to his debut NBA season with another standout performance. Lendeborg tallied a game-high 31 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field with 12 boards and six assists in 31 minutes. Lendeborg found success getting to the free throw line, hitting 12 of 13 shots from the line.
Lendeborg has now tallied double-figures in each of his first four games with the Warriors, recording 31 points and 26 points in his last two contests.
Along with Lendeborg and Curry, Golden State's offense was rolling on Monday, with three other players scoring in double-figures against the Nuggets. Brandin Podziemski, Gui Santos and Al Horford all notched 11 or more points on Monday.
After getting Tuesday off, the Warriors will end their three-game road swing with a contest against Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
