Ex-Rangers star in fitness fight to face Celtic in Europa League

The Czech winger is at Besiktas and helped them to a win against Basaksehir in their latest game, with ex-Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-Gyu opening the scoring.

Cerny is due to line up for Besiktas in the next Europa League game next week as he makes his return to Glasgow.

The 29-year-old faced a probe by Police Scotland after spraying Celtic fans with a water bottle as he raced down the touchline while celebrating his team's late winner in a 3-2 victory at Parkhead in March last year.

No further action was taken on Cerny, who was on loan from Wolfsburg at the time.
But he will need to prove his fitness for his return to Celtic Park after he was subbed off in the second half with a knee knock.

Besiktas manager Vincenzo Italiano said: "Vaclav Cerny took a blow, but he was lucky because it was near the knee tendon and not on it.

"If it had hit the tendon, it could have been a big problem.

"We are hopeful he will recover quickly."
