Ed McCaffrey told his favorite John Elway memory during an interview with Rich Eisen.
Winning a Super Bowl is extremely hard. Denver Broncos Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway understands this all too well, losing three Super Bowls in the 1980s before finally winning back-to-back titles during the 1997 and 1998 NFL seasons. His teammate, Ed McCaffrey, was pivotal to the Broncos' dominance in the late 1990s, and he shared his favorite Elway memory with Rich Eisen on the "Rich Eisen Show."
You guessed it: a Super Bowl memory.
McCaffrey recalls being nervous for Elway as they lined up in the Victory Formation at the end of Super Bowl XXXII. Because this was Elway's first Super Bowl win and it was seconds away, he hoped the opposing defense wouldn't try to swat the ball after it was hiked, which would have created chaos at the end. When McCaffrey saw Elway successfully snap the ball, he saw mixed emotions — laughter, smiles, and tears — on Elway's face.
But don't take my word for it; check out the clip below. Two and a half minutes worth your time.
