The Carolina Hurricanes are headed for their final game in Canada this tour, with game four of five of their Western Conference road trip – facing the Edmonton Oilers.
The game is scheduled for 9:00 PM EDT.
In the Hurricanes’ last game, they had a commanding 6-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. In that game, a trio of Hurricanes players got a pair of goals apiece in Nicolas Deslauriers, Nikolaj Ehlers, and – in his homecoming to 400+ of his local supporters in the stands – Logan Stankoven. You can read all about the game here!
However, perhaps the biggest story for Carolina is that Seth Jarvis has been activated from the injured non-roster list, and is anticipated to play against the Oilers. Two weeks ago, the Hurricanes’ star winger – and last season’s goals leader for the team – shed the yellow non-contact sweater for practices with the team. Additionally, Bradly Nadeau was assigned to the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, while Skyler Brind’Amour was called up to the Hurricanes.
Meanwhile, the Oilers have been buzzing here early in the season. Currently, with nine games played, they have only lost two games – and only one in regulation. They sit atop the league in points percentage, with an astounding .833, with the closest number being the Tampa Bay Lightning’s .778, followed by the Hurricanes in third with .773.
With Pyotr Kochetkov having started Tuesday against the Canucks, and considering the practice placements of goaltenders Wednesday, it is all but certain that Brandon Bussi will start against the Oilers.
This season, Bussi’s goals against average is 2.98, with a save percentage of .882.
Meanwhile, the Oilers have primarily had Devon Levi as their starting goalie over Tristan Jarry, with former Hurricanes goalie Frederik Andersen expected to remain out until potentially December. As such, it is assumed that Levi will once again take the crease
This season, Levi’s goals against average is 2.83, with a save percentage of .898.
