Tottenham “beast” wants to leave as Barcelona monitor situation

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, with poor results raising fresh questions about the club’s direction under Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs’ struggles have put pressure on the team to turn things around, with concerns growing that their performances could have consequences beyond the pitch.

The situation could also threaten Tottenham’s ability to keep hold of some of their key players.

One of their standout performers is now reportedly considering his future in north London, with a return to Spanish football potentially on the cards.

Pedro Porro Wants to Leave Tottenham

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Pedro Porro is seriously considering leaving Tottenham as he weighs up a return to Spain. Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the right-back’s situation, with the Catalan giants understood to admire his attacking qualities and experience at the highest level.

Porro — described as a “beast” by Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz — has established himself as an important figure at Spurs since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2023. His ability to drive forward, deliver dangerous crosses and contribute in the final third has made him a valuable part of Tottenham’s setup.

However, the club’s disappointing start to the campaign could influence his thinking. The report suggests the 27-year-old is increasingly unsure about his long-term future in the Premier League and is considering whether a fresh challenge in his homeland would be the right move.

Barcelona could offer an attractive destination, although any potential transfer is far from straightforward. Porro recently signed a new contract with Tottenham that runs until June 2031, leaving the Premier League side in a strong negotiating position.

As a result, Spurs would likely demand a significant fee before allowing one of their most important players to leave. Barcelona would also need to consider their own defensive situation and finances before making a formal move.

There has been no official offer for Porro at this stage, meaning a deal remains speculative. Nevertheless, his reported desire to return to Spain could give Barcelona encouragement as they assess their options for strengthening the right-back position.

For Tottenham, the priority will be improving their results and convincing their key players that the club remains on the right track. If their difficult start continues, retaining Porro could become a growing concern.
