Norwich City: Mo Toure latest on shoulder injury and future

The prolific 22-year-old striker is out until January after undergoing shoulder surgery back in Australia, which halted his impressive goalscoring burst at the start of the new season.

Toure was the standout in a dire start for Philippe Clement’s squad that continued with a seventh league defeat in 10 in midweek against Southampton.

The Australian international had taken his personal tally for the club to 20 goal contributions in 21 senior appearances, since his January 2026, move prior to a shoulder injury in the recent defeat to Bolton.

“I had some momentum behind me before the injury – I was on a good run (on the scoresheet in three successive games). As a striker you dream of that and having it ended by injury is frustrating.

"What’s most important overall is your health and after you’re healthy then you can look at your options.

“I will definitely come back stronger – I’m going to use the window I have now to make sure of that.

“I’ve told myself I’m going to better myself in areas where I maybe needed to improve in. If all goes to plan I’ll be back better than before. It’s been good to have my family (in Adelaide) around me.

"I can take things slowly at first and when I’m ready to hit the ground running I’ll be back at Norwich.

“It’s mentally not that easy to see the boys training and preparing when you can’t even train yourself. It’s tricky to be around the boys when you’re injured. You want to be supportive of your team-mates but you also feel for yourself, so it’s good to have a mental refresh away from the group.

“As soon as I’m ready to do more advanced rehab I’ll be there supporting the boys every week.”

Toure, speaking in a wide-ranging interview for Football360 in Australia, also opened up on that late summer transfer speculation but insisted he remains fully committed to the Canaries.

“Every player at every level has their goals – but at the moment I’m really happy where I am and I really enjoy wearing the shirt for Norwich each week,” he said. “I love the fans and the stadium and it’s almost like my second home now.

"I’m not thinking about anything else at the moment. Of course I’m ambitious and I’d love to fulfil those ambitions with Norwich.

"We want to compete strongly and hopefully get promoted. That’s where my mind is at and what I want to do.

“For now I’m a Championship player and have to improve myself there before I go anywhere.”
