Sophie Cunningham drops a brutal verdict on the Atlanta Dream’s arena fiasco ahead of the 2026 WNBA Finals.
For the first time in 13 years, the Atlanta Dream will play in the WNBA Finals as Angel Reese and co. swept the New York Liberty in the semifinals.
However, the Dream faced an unusual roadblock when the State Farm Arena was already booked for the team’s Games 3 and 4 dates.
This has led to Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham going on a lengthy rant calling out the WNBA’s preparation.
During the latest episode of her ‘No Hesitation’ podcast, Cunningham addressed the unusual situation surrounding the Dream.
“Atlanta’s been kicking a__ though. Like the city should be coming around them like no other and I’m not just saying for the playoffs. I’m saying [in] the regular season they’ve been kicking a__. They’ve been selling out State Farm Arena,” Cunningham said.
But she wasn’t done, as the Fever guard demanded respect for the Dream while comparing the WNBA to the NBA.
“This shouldn’t be like a five-day thing of, ‘Oh, what do we do? A big scramble mode.’ Can you respect us a little bit? Respect Atlanta, they’ve been freaking kicking a__ all year. Respect the Valkyries, they’ve been kicking a__.
“If this was an NBA team, this wouldn’t have even come out on social media. Respect us. Everyone’s game is leveling up. Y’all got to do the same,” she added.

Cunningham was furious at how the news made the rounds on social media. She believes if this happened with an NBA team, the news would have been buried quickly.
For what it’s worth, the situation has been resolved with the Dream moving Game 3 a day earlier and moving the start time of Game 4 to play their home game of the WNBA Finals at the State Farm Arena.
