After initial reports indicated the Philadelphia Eagles would not place quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, they have now decided to do so after consulting with doctors due to his blood clot.
In the first five games of the season, Hurts threw for 933 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns. Philadelphia is currently 2-3 after losing their last three games, with the wildest of those losses coming against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, when the Eagles led by two points with seven seconds left.
With Hurts being placed on IR, he will miss Philadelphia’s games against the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants. However, according to ESPN, doctors who have not worked with Hurts believe he could be out for six weeks. If that were the case, he would also miss their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and put his availability for Thanksgiving against Dallas in question.
Right now, the only quarterbacks on the Eagles’ roster are Tanner McKee, rookie Cole Payton, and Joe Milton III, who they signed off the Cowboys’ practice squad on Friday. With Hurts sidelined for at least four games, it wouldn't be surprising to see Philadelphia trade for a quarterback, such as Mac Jones from the San Francisco 49ers.
