Flyers Game 19: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch @ Flames
Flyers Game 19: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch @ Flames

The Philadelphia Flyers (4-10-4) kick off the Western Canada trip on Sunday when they take on the Calgary Flames (7-9-1) at 7:00 PM ET at the Saddledome.

Following their 3-2 loss to the Rangers on Thursday, the Flyers now have just one win in their last 5 games and have earned a point in two games. A loss on Sunday would bookend their one win after the 3-game winning streak with two 3-game losing streaks.

The Flames have not had much more success over the last 5-game stretch. Calgary is 2-2-1 over the last 5 games, but is riding a 4-game winning streak, boosting the team’s record to 6-3-1 over the last 10 games. The Flames enter Sunday’s game on back-to-back losses as well.

Puck drop is at 7:00 PM ET at the Saddledome. Here is everything you need to know before the game.

Flyers projected Lines & Pairs @ Flames

Joseph Woll Dan Vladar

Notes

After being put together, Porter Martone and Matvei Michkov were playing some of their best hockey of the season. Then, during the Minnesota game, head coach Rick Tocchet split the two up, swapping Martone and Tyson Foerster. The pair will be back together on Sunday as the Flyers look to get things headed in the right direction.

But they did not just swap Tyson Foerster. Based on lines from Saturday, it seems like Foerster will be on the top line with Christian Dvorak and Travis Konecny, while Trevor Zegras heads to the third line with Cole Knuble and Owen Tippett. Still some line juggling going on here.

The Flyers will see some familiar faces on Sunday, with Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee leading the charge for the Flames. Farabee is leading the team in goals with 6, while Frost’s 12 points are 3rd on the Flames. The former Flyer duo is playing well out in Calgary, enough so that they each could be traded for more than the Flyers got back for both of them at the trade deadline.

It’s the first game of a back-to-back for the Flyers. Both the Flames and Canucks don’t necessarily pose the biggest challenge. It could go either way for the Flyers’ goaltenders. With Joseph Woll starting in New York on Thursday, I would expect Dan Vladar to get the nod on Sunday.

The Flames have the 4th-ranked power play in the league, but the Flyers are one of just two teams that score fewer than Calgary. It might not end up being the highest-scoring matchup.
