It means Colchester supporters will have two lunchtime kick-offs to contend with during the opening months of 2027, including the away journey to Kent to face Gillingham.
Both fixtures form part of Colchester's League Two campaign and add to the club’s television exposure during the season.
The change to the Northampton fixture means supporters planning to attend the game at the JobServe Community Stadium will need to make allowances for the earlier start, while travelling U’s fans heading to Gillingham will also face a lunchtime kick-off.
The two matches will be available to watch live on Sky Sports for supporters unable to attend.
