Tom Brady let another curse word slip on live Fox television Sunday, and the fans highlighted below treated the repeat as part of the show, with jokes and little criticism.
This one came on November 1, during Fox’s pregame coverage ahead of the Week 8 early games, and it took nothing more than a quarterback trivia question to shake it loose. Those fans have zeroed in on how often it happens and how much they enjoy hearing it.
Brady, Fox’s lead NFL analyst, joined the network’s studio crew for the segment, in which fellow analyst Drew Brees took him on in NFL quarterback trivia. The two former adversaries are colleagues now, and the bit put them head-to-head again.
The stumble came while Brady was trying to guess the correct answer to a question. Out came an “Oh [expletive],” and on live television, there was no taking it back.
One fan didn’t need long to decide: “Tom Brady can’t stop swearing on air lol.”
Another fan replied to the clip with the same verdict: “He can’t help himself atp lol.”
Brady had been here six weeks earlier, in the middle of a game call. On Sept. 20, with Fox carrying the Washington Commanders’ game against the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, he let the same two words through as he watched a replay from the final play of the first half.
On that snap, Daniels stumbled after an offensive lineman stepped on his foot, put his left hand down to brace himself, and had his elbow bend backward. Brady caught himself and apologized on the spot with an “Excuse me,” adding that he was “not expecting to see that.”
The Commanders ruled Daniels out for the rest of the game with a dislocated elbow, though X-rays later showed he had avoided a fracture. The Week 2 slip came during an injury replay, a far different setting from Sunday’s trivia bit.
The closest thing to a knock was a gentle one. “Still getting used to live broadcasting etiquette,” another fan wrote.
Brady has never had a smaller stage at Fox. The network put him on its top broadcast team from the start of his announcing career.
Where those fans poked fun, three others went past tolerance to affection. “Tom getting real comfortable this year,” one fan wrote.
Another fan’s praise went beyond one clip: “Post retirement Tom is one of my favorite things. Dude is so real.”
Fox puts plenty of that personality on display itself. The network’s page for him highlights a clip centered on the one-liners Brady trades with his partner, Kevin Burkhardt, in the booth.
One more fan tweeted, “I love it and really why is [expletive] so bad. As far as swear words it’s nothing”
For another fan, Sunday’s moment fit right in with the rest of the season: “I think my favorite thing this season is hearing Tom Brady slip up.”
Every one of those fan posts went up between 12:27 and 12:38 p.m. ET, before the early window opened. Brady was back on live air for kickoff in his second straight week at Ford Field, calling the Minnesota Vikings at the Detroit Lions. That game was scoreless with 7:36 left in the first quarter as of 1:21 p.m. ET.
