Panthers HC Dave Canales confirms heartbreaking development for OT Taylor Moton

The 2026 season for Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Taylor Moton has come to an end.

As expected, Moton will miss the remainder of the campaign due to the ankle and fibula injuries he sustained in yesterday's 43-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed the loss following Monday's walk-through, telling reporters that the 10th-year lineman will undergo surgery.

"He's got a fracture in his fibula, up high, kinda right below the knee. But it was really the ankle that got damaged the most with ligaments all that," Canales stated of Moton, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this afternoon.

Moton was sidelined for the first four games of the season as he recovered from blood clots in his lung. He returned for last week's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played in all 79 offensive snaps.

Canales continued.

"Myself, his teammates—we're all hurt for T-Mo," he added. "But we know what he represents and how he battled to get back out there."

As he did during Moton's initial absence, 2026 first-round pick Monroe Freeling will take over at right tackle moving forward.
