First-time WWE world champion to be crowned: Four stars that will win ‘The Big One’ in 2027
WWE Heavyweight Championship
Whether it be a young star kicking off decades of main event success or a veteran name finally reaching the top of the mountain, there really isn’t many things better in WWE than seeing a superstar capture their first world title. WWE currently has a great mixture of established main event talent and younger names on the verge of breaking through into the world title picture. Advertisement With 2026 giving us Sami Zayn and Chelsea Green’s first world title triumphs, who will be next year’s big winners? Here are four first-time WWE world champions to potentially be crowned in 2027: Penta In less than two years Penta has established himself as a major superstar in WWE, a remarkable achievement for someone who spent the preceding five years working primarily as a tag team wrestler in AEW. Advertisement Now that he’s holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, Penta is almost certainly going to capture his very first world title in WWE, and this may very well happen before we even get to 2027. Whether it’s at some point in the next two months or in 2027, Penta is one of the safest bets in WWE to capture “the big one.” Trick Williams Another WWE star who has the chance to reach the mountaintop before 2027 is Trick Williams. Advertisement The 32-year-old has had one of the best main roster rookie years in recent memory, as he’s won two United States Championships and has now entered the Undisputed WWE Title picture whilst still holding SmackDown’s mid-card belt. Trick will have the chance to win his first world title this Friday on SmackDown (October 30) when he takes on Sami Zayn. While few fancy him to win the match given that Zayn has his big Crown Jewel match with Roman Reigns booked in for November 7, it will serve as a nice appetizer of what’s to come when “Trick Willy” does become a main event player in 2027. Roxanne Perez One WWE star many fans will have had on their list to win “the big one” in 2027 would have been The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez. “The Prodigy” was the favorite to win the 2026 women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, but she ultimately fell short to two-time winner Tiffany Stratton. Advertisement While fans of Perez were understandably disappointed, there could be even bigger plans lined up for the former NXT Women’s Champion in 2027. If Liv Morgan heads into WrestleMania 43 season still as Women’s World Champion we could very well see a clash of Judgment Day members at “The Grandest Stage of Them All.” Oba Femi Undoubtedly the nailed on number one pick for this list, Oba Femi winning his first world championship is inevitable for 2027, and it will most likely be happening at the biggest stage imaginable: the main event of WrestleMania 43 Night Two. Advertisement Oba Femi vs. Roman Reigns has felt destined for that spot all year long, and while this inevitability has hindered the overall levels of excitement fans have been able to have for Raw’s main event scene, it’s still the most logical path forward for WWE. Femi is “The Next Big Thing” and a win over Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 43 will feel like a true torch-passing moment in WWE history.
