Jon Rahm has produced some extremely impressive golf this week at the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Rahm, 31, recently left LIV Golf, and is set to play a full schedule on the DP World Tour next season.

However, a win this week in Abu Dhabi would be hugely important for him, with a large amount of world ranking points on offer at Yas Links.

Jon Rahm‘s confirmed exit from LIV Golf last month came as no surprise, and the league has now gone into liquidation.

So the Spaniard’s timing could not have been better. Rahm’s full focus will now be on the DP World Tour for the next 12 months and it seems like he could be set to return to his very best form quicker than many expected.

Rahm spoke to reporters after firing a second-round 67 to tie for the lead at Yas Links on Friday, and he was asked to give his honest opinion of the condition of the golf course.

“It’s going to be hard to ever find a golf course in better shape than this one,“ he admitted.

“It’s phenomenal what they’ve been able to do. The greens are all perfect. When you give some of the best players in the world perfect greens and fairways that are firm, unless the wind conditions get crazy, you’re going to have some close scores, and that’s what we’re seeing on this course here.

“Overall, the golf course can be quite tricky, especially with certain pin locations, slopes. You can put yourself in difficult spots. But it’s been quite calm, and that’s what’s allowed us to be aggressive.“

He was then asked to rate his performance on day two in Abu Dhabi.

“Pretty good play,“ he replied.

“Only thing to take back would be just a couple of bad tee shots right now, feeling fairly comfortable otherwise. Just there’s been a couple of swings off the tee that were unexpected. But hopefully I can fix that, but otherwise the play has been lovely.“

Jon Rahm is in a very good position after 36 holes of the Abu Dhabi Championship, but he will know that he needs to keep his foot down on the accelerator if he is to have a chance of winning the tournament this weekend.
