The Detroit Lions secured a major divisional win over a bitter NFC North rival on Sunday, beating the Green Bay Packers 20-17 to move to 4-2. Lions quarterback Jared Goff continued to look like one of the league's best starting quarterbacks in the win.
Goff was the star of the show once again on Sunday, going 22-for-32, passing for 303 yards and two touchdowns in the win. It was the third time this season Goff threw for over 300 yards and the fifth time he threw for multiple touchdowns in a single game.
Goff has been steadily rising toward MVP consideration all year, and with six games under wraps, it is getting harder and harder to deny that he might be one of the best players in the NFL this season. He has now passed for 1,788 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, and has yet to throw an interception. As the Lions keep winning, his case only gets stronger.
Goff still has other top-level quarterbacks to beat, though, as Brock Purdy, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, and Patrick Mahomes are all still near the top of the race for the league's top award. But if he keeps playing at the level he has so far this season and the Lions keep winning, he'll likely be a lock for MVP.
