Kevin Kelsy and Minsu Kim were both handed starts by McInnes as they arguably make his strongest available eleven. They have been good in most of the games building up to Saturday, but they had a tough outing in Paisley.

Kelsy, who has joined for big money, has shown glimpses of why he can lead the line consistently for the Gers, but had a tough game against St Mirren. His touch let him down time and again, and he failed to link up with Naderi, Minsu and Badredine Bouanani. There were plenty of instances where the Venezuela forward should have driven forward with the ball at his feet, but he seemed to make a number of wrong decisions.

With Minsu, he has shown that he’s got the game sense to get into the right positions, but much like Kelsy, he seemed to make a lot of bad decisions. He tried to overcomplicate things when he should have just taken shots or made a pass quicker. These are games to learn from, and had Ivor Pandur not been impeccable at the other end, both Minsu and Kelsy could have cost McInnes’ side the game.

Ivor Pandur puts in his best Rangers performance

While it was not a game in which the goalkeeper had to bail out the winning side, it showed just how important Pandur is between the sticks. For most of the game, he did not have anything to do, which may not be the best thing for a goalkeeper. They like getting touches every now and then as it keeps them fresh and alert.

However, whenever St Mirren were to carve out an opportunity against the run of play, Pandur stepped up and made some fantastic saves to keep his sheet clean. He made a total of four saves and saved a total of 1.35 goals based on the quality of shots (xGOT) metric.

The Croatian has proven to be a massive upgrade on Jack Butland, and Rangers fans seem to be getting a new reason after each game to love him.
