MATT Grimes insists Coventry City must continue ‘learning and adapting’ to life in the Premier League following defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

Coventry lost 3-1 against Spurs on the club’s first-ever visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Jack Rudoni on target for the Sky Blues.

Goals from James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies condemned Coventry to defeat but Frank Lampard’s side more than matched Spurs throughout.

Sky Blues skipper Grimes has started all seven of Coventry’s games in the Premier League this season.

And Grimes believes he and his teammates are starting to play with belief and confidence in the top flight.

Grimes said: “I thought we played well, we’ve been beaten by real moments of quality and a mistake at the end when we’re chasing it.

“We spoke about starting the second half quickly because you could hear a few moans and groans even when they were one-nil up.

“Conceding the second was disappointing, even then it felt like the game was only going to finish two-two and then we get dealt a sucker punch at the end.

“You can see in the last couple of games, the lads are really taking to [the Premier League] now and we’re starting to believe we belong at this level.

“It’s chalk and cheese from the Arsenal game at the start of the season, you can see the belief and confidence the lads are playing with.

“We just need to keep building, keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard. It’s all about learning and adapting.

“I’m enjoying it [in the Premier League], it’s a lot of change after playing so many years in the Championship but we’ve really grown into it.”

Coventry are next in action against Fulham on Saturday, October 24 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
