Jerry Jones loses his cool in furious reaction to latest Cowboys loss

Another NFL week has come and gone where the Dallas Cowboys have blown a lead to a team they should have easily handled.

After going up 14 points in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys were outscored by the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals 20-6 in the final eleven minutes to force overtime.

In the final frame, both Arizona and Dallas exchanged three-and-outs before the Cardinals marched down the field and kicked a 42-yard field goal to win 33-30.

Jones was spotted by Fox Sports cameras with a livid reaction in his luxury suite. The longtime Cowboys owner was shown slamming his hands down on the table in front of him while screaming 'S***! S***!'

With Dallas now sitting at 3-5, the 84-year-old owner is facing increased pressure to make a decision regarding head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

The Cowboys are the healthiest team in an NFC East division that no one seems to want to win while injuries hamper their three divisional rivals: the New York Giants (who are without Jaxson Dart), the Philadelphia Eagles (who will miss Jalen Hurts for the season) and the Washington Commanders (who have multiple starters on IR).

But after the game, Jones did not choose to lay the blame squarely at the feet of Schottenheimer.

'I will say that a lot of people let Brian down today. For whatever criticism we wanna have of Brian - we can all get in line - and that was a total, to use a cliche, that was a total team effort out there for us,' Jones told reporters.

He added: 'For our fans, we have to be better than that when we got our hands on a win and then drop the ball.'

Moreover, Jones refused to fire Schottenheimer mid-season due to shame he had from a similar move in the past.

'I made a change, and I don't want to mention it because I'm not proud of it, but I made a change with Wade Phillips there in the middle of the season. And I don't see that here at all,' Jones recalled.

Jones's choice to fire Phillips in the middle of the 2010 season led to something of a turnaround for the Cowboys. While they failed to make the playoffs, Dallas went 5-3 under interim coach Jason Garrett after going 1-7 under Phillips.

Phillips became the first coach in Cowboys history to be fired mid-season, but Garrett proved to be Jones's man. Garrett would be hired full-time in 2011 and held the position until 2019, despite never reaching the NFC Championship and only winning two playoff games.

Dallas currently sits second in the NFC East. They'll look to turn their season around with a road game against the fire-selling Indianapolis Colts next Sunday.
