Rory McIlroy will look back on his 2026 PGA Tour season as a success, purely because he won The Masters for the second time in a row.

However, it’s fair to say that McIlroy’s overall season on the PGA Tour was one of his more underwhelming campaigns in recent years.

After his win at The Masters in April, the 37-year-old Northern Irishman played in just nine PGA Tour events.

During those appearances, Rory McIlroy failed to win and he recorded only two top-5 finishes, with both of those coming in the final two events of the season with reduced fields.

How many majors does Rory McIlroy finish his career with?

He's currently on six…

However, the six-time major winner still managed to finish sixth on the PGA Tour money list after recording six top-10 finishes and four top-5s in the 14 events he played.

McIlroy has accumulated huge wealth during his time on the PGA Tour and he is undoubtedly one of the richest sportsmen in the world.

So anyone who finished above him on the money list last year would have been very pleased with their efforts.

McIlroy’s 2026 PGA Tour season was an incredibly lucrative one, in spite of the fact that he only had one victory to his name.

The 30-time PGA Tour winner racked up $11,573,749 in earnings this year and that figure left him sixth on the money list.

So, let’s take a look at the five players who finished ahead of the man from Northern Ireland in the standings.

In fifth place on the money list in 2026 is Jacob Bridgeman who earned $11,589,508 in total from the 25 events he played. Bridgeman, 26, has two wins to his name this year including the Genesis Invitational at Riviera where he held off McIlroy down the stretch.

Next up in fourth on the money list is Wyndham Clark after he recorded $14,661,436 in winnings from the 24 tournaments he played. Clark won three times including his memorable US Open triumph at Shinnecock Hills in June.

Then we have Matt Fitzpatrick in third place – another player with three wins to his name on the PGA Tour in 2026. The Englishman racked up $14,679,817 in earnings in 2026 from the 21 events that he competed in.

Cameron Young is sitting in second place on the PGA Tour money list in 2026 after winning two huge events. He triumphed at The Players Championship and the Cadillac Championship and came very close to winning The Open Championship as well. Young won $15,068,482 in prize money from the 20 events he played.

Incredibly, number one on the money list – Scottie Scheffler – won more than double the amount that Young received in 2026. The world number one received $30,937,525 in prize money in 2026, with three wins to his name throughout the year, including the Fedex St. Jude Championship and the Tour Championship.

The numbers are truly remarkable and the obscene finances on the PGA Tour now are proof that LIV Golf has actually been good for the game in some ways.

Players are earning ridiculous sums of money now like never before, and the rises in purses over the past four year have purely been down to LIV bursting onto the scene in 2022.

It’s strange to think that Rory McIlroy earning just over $11.5 million represents an average season for him. As mentioned earlier, though, he won The Masters, and that will be worth more than any amount of money to him.
