Rhys Owens dominates Cesar Parades to continue undefeated record

'Lights Out' stepped up to eight rounds for the first time and looked comfortable throughout, even getting stronger as the fight went on.

His much more experienced opponent battled hard but he was no match for the Fermanagh man.

Owens took the first round after an early period of feeling out his opponent.

It was a round dominated by body shots and that ended up being the story of the fight.

The Fermanagh man knew where he had to target and the loud support made sure they were right behind him all the way.

The second round continued in the same way and it almost felt like Owens was playing with his rival.

There were signs that he had gears to go up, but he naturally needed to be careful of his opponent too.

The third round did see Owens need to be a bit more on the front foot as Parades tried to come at him.

The Peruvian landed a couple of shots but it was another round dominated by the home fighter.

Into round four and the Peruvian looked to be growing in confidence as the fight went on, but Owens landed a punch that wobbled his opponent and all of a sudden there was a huge step back from Parades.

The fight never really looked like it was ever going to get away from Owens as he controlled the tempo throughout.

There were some huge punches landed on the body and the head and round five really saw him step it up with some huge hits.

It was the same in six and seven, and it could have been ended at a couple of stages but Parades showed heart to stay in it.

In the end, it went to the scorecards but it was no shock that Owens came out on top.

Earlier on in the evening, Cameron Suttle took part in an exhibition fight against Donegal’s Denis Lafferty.

Although it ended in a draw, Suttle dominated the four two minute rounds.

The Fermanagh fighter showed his class in the ring and was much fitter than his opponent.

It was a fight that was interrupted twice by the referee, and if there had been a winner then there would only have been one and it would have been Suttle.

The co-main event saw Aodhan Byrne take on Benito Garcia in a six event fight with the Kildare fighter coming out on top against his much more experienced Mexican opponent.

Also on the night there were points victories for Kian Hedderman, Simon Clarke, Calvin Doyle, and Ryan O’Rourke while debutant Vitali Ustimov and Eoghan Lavin both stopped their opponents.

Prior to the event, Owens declared Doyle as one to watch and he certainly put on a show for the fans.

Ustimov and Lavin were also both impressive with their knockouts.
