Tarik Muharemovic was the man of the match on Saturday as Leeds United secured a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Elland Road, but the defender is now set to miss his first match of the season.
Since completing a move to Leeds from Sassuolo in a £34m deal, Muharemovic has played every single minute for Leeds this season. That is all 10 Premier League games and two matches in the Carabao Cup.
The defender has been a key part of the side that sit in eighth position going into Sunday. His arrival has helped Leeds fans forget about Pascal Struijk, but his form has angered Juventus fans given they sold him.
Having clocked up 90 minutes on 12 separate occasions for Leeds, Muharemovic also played every single minute for his country in the extended September break. It means the defender has played 16 full games.
Now, Bosnia play the final two games of their six-match Nations League campaign. They first face Gabi Gudmundsson and Graham Potter’s Sweden away from home, before taking on Romania in Bosnia.

But Nations League rules state that two yellow cards in these six games earn a one-match automatic suspension. Muharemovic was booked in wins over Poland and Romania during the first four games.
He told the Evening Post: “I am very happy that I have played every minute, I have a lot to improve. I’ve got a game off because of two yellows. The first game I don’t play an international game, but it’s okay.”
For club and country last season, Muharemovic clocked up 3920 minutes for Sassuolo and Bosnia, with the defender playing a total of 44 games. He totalled 33 for Sassuolo and 11 more for his country.
This season, he is already approaching half of that figure, with 1440 on board – excluding injury times. He is just six games away from reaching half of the 44 figure. Leeds have 28 league games still to play.
Muharemovic is set to take his total to 1530 minutes, and a 17th appearance of the season, when Bosnia play Romania, after he remains suspended against Sweden. Bosnia are likely to have two games in March.
Leeds, meanwhile, have 28 league games left to play and the third round of the FA Cup. If Muharemovic continues his rate and plays every single minute for Leeds and Bosnia, he would play a huge 50 games.
That would take his total to 4500 minutes, another 600 on top of what he managed during 2025-26. It means his suspension against Sweden is good news for Leeds, allowing the defender a much-needed rest.
