Michael Carrick cut a dejected figure after Manchester United's defeat to Bournemouth(Image: Getty Images)
Michael Carrick's Manchester United future is hanging in the balance following his side's 3-0 drubbing against Bournemouth on Sunday. Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson condemned the Reds to a third defeat in four and extended their winless run to eight matches in all competitions.
It has increased the pressure on Carrick, who could face the sack with United winning just two of their 12 games this season. They have dropped down to 16th in the Premier League table, having picked up seven points from a possible 24 available, and haven't won in the top-flight since beating Ipswich Town in August.
Speaking post-match, Carrick cut a dejected figure and didn't seem sure if he'll be the man in the dugout for United's trip to Chelsea next Saturday. Meanwhile, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both called for United to sack Carrick after the club slumped to another defeat and dropped to within one point of the relegation zone.

Manchester United's board are now expected to accelerate the process of appointing a new head coach, with the expectation from insiders at the club that Michael Carrick will be relieved of his duties, according to Sky Sports.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United bosses feel that a change is needed to improve the club's fortunes, with former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe the leading candidates.
But the decision on who is going to replace Carrick is poised to come down to director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada, who will make a recommendation to co-owner Ratcliffe.
Rhodri Giggs, the brother of Manchester United legend Ryan, has launched an X-rated attack on Gary Neville amid the club's growing crisis. After the Reds were beaten against Bournemouth, Rhodri, 49, turned on Neville and United's ownership, accusing the former England defender of failing to hold Sir Jim Ratcliffe accountable.
In an explosive post on X, he wrote: "Gary Neville you’re an absolute w****r. Prime Pep couldn't get a tune out of this lot. Call your mate Jim [Ratcliffe] out who got us into this mess further.
"The owners are parasites and don't have a clue."
