Joel van den Berg is not currently expected to leave Celtic on loan in January, despite recent speculation around the midfielder’s short-term future.
The 19-year-old joined Celtic from PSV in the summer, arriving with a strong reputation after breaking into the first-team picture in the Netherlands.

However, CeltsAreHere understands Van den Berg has not been told he is going out on loan in January.
The midfielder is viewed highly internally, and the current focus is on getting him fit, settled and ready to properly push for a place under Martin O’Neill.
His early months in Glasgow have not been straightforward. Van den Berg was named on the bench shortly after arriving, but injury has slowed him down before he could properly build rhythm or force his way into the side.
There may be a discussion closer to January if Van den Berg has still not made any meaningful first-team impact by then. In that situation, a loan could be considered as a way of getting him regular football during the second half of the season.
But that is not where things currently stand.
For now, the plan is not to move him out. The January loan talk may look logical from the outside given his lack of minutes, but Celtic are not at that stage with Van den Berg.
