Rangers recovered from falling behind to take a second-half lead through Nico Raskin, only for Callum Jones to capitalise on a mistake and haul Dundee level.
🗣️ “Those standards for 20-25 minutes show what the team is capable of when you play with that intensity.” Derek McInnes is “disappointed” by Rangers' draw at Dens Park but praises Dundee for their performance ⤵️ https://t.co/q8YUeFSF20

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, McInnes said: “Disappointment, obviously, when you come from a goal behind. I thought the first half, we never get Minsu Kim close enough to Naderi. We didn't feed our wide players early enough.
“I thought Dundee's press was good, as we expected, and we wanted to try and draw the centre-backs out at times and try and hit spaces and feed our wide players and get 1v1. And it never quite materialised.
“We knew we had to defend well. I've seen Dundee often this season, and the biggest port of call for us tonight for defenders had to be good defenders. I don't think we were quite settled for periods in the first half. I thought their front two were a handful.
“And you've got to say Dundee were decent and good value for going in front. But all equally, I thought we deserved an equaliser.
"I thought the response was good to going behind.”
Badredine Bouanani marked his return to the starting XI with a superb equaliser before Rangers increased the tempo significantly after the interval, scoring through Raskin
McInnes added: “In the second half, we came out and we came flying out of the traps. We started getting up in second balls better, winning more duels, defended far more confidently, fed our wide players quicker, and there was just more speed in the game.
“And we scored an unbelievable goal that we should be talking about. It deservedly should have been a winner.
“And I think for that period we were so dominant, so dominant for 20-25 minutes. And we shouldn't need to come away from home and score three goals to win a game.”
However, Rangers were unable to protect their advantage, with McInnes particularly frustrated by the manner in which Dundee found their second equaliser. He said: “We got punished for the mistake.
"And Dundee are a good team, but I thought we've gifted an opportunity there not to take all three points.”
McInnes also praised Bouanani after the Algerian scored his first Rangers goal. “Bouanani scores, he justifies his selection with a brilliant goal,” he said.
“And he was a constant threat in the second half.”
The Rangers boss was also full of praise for the travelling support but admitted his players failed to hit the required level for long enough.
“The fans were magnificent tonight,” he said. “And we just weren't magnificent for as long as we needed to be to win the game.”
